Insulated lunch bag

I found the tutorial for this lunch bag here.  I really liked the concept and thought it would be a great gift for my friend Angie's little girl. And I was able to use scraps of fabric I already had, so my only cost were the buttons.  And wow, at $2.00, I really broke the bank!  lol

This is the side view.  It is quite roomy, but I think it needs to be a little thicker the next time around.  I also think I'll add a zippered compartment for utensils and/or smaller items.

And the inside.

This went together very quickly and with very little effort.  I didn't like the handle in the original, so I changed that part.  But that was the only change I made.

I think I will have it monogrammed to give it a little something extra.  I think she'll like it.

Happy Friday!!

Newlook 6473

I made this for my great-neice in Illinois for Christmas.  I will definitely do this one again.  With the exception of the square yoke with overlay, it was very simple to put together.  I used view B on the top with the pants.  Because I had never done a square yoke like this, I opted not to put the button holes in it and save that for my next one.

This is a closer look at the yoke.  It still has some puckering, although not quite as bad as the photo would indicate.  I had to get a little help from the ladies at on this yoke.  Someone posted a video on how to do this, and that was a HUGE help.  I am a very visual learner, so seeing it made it much easier to follow.

And the back.  Looks like I missed a few places on those pants with my iron! lol
I really like this one and am looking forward to doing it again.

Happy hump day!

Casserole Carrier - Insulated

I found the tutorial for this carrier here.   It was actually quite easy.  I've never made one before, so it took a little longer than I think it should have.

Here are some other views. This has the dish already inside.  If I make this again, I will shorten the handles a bit.  These are too long I think.

From the side.

And opened up.

I think my MIL will like it.  It is her Christmas gift.  I think I want one for myself too!

Happy Saturday!

These panels will be hung in Valdosta, but I'm hoping to have pics soon of them in place.  This panel hasn't been ironed, but honestly it didn't look any better when I did iron it. Grrrr.....  This is linen burlap fabric, and let me just say, it was a pain in my patooty to work with.

But something that made it a lot easier was this little jewel.  It's called grommet tape. Oh my, was this a life saver.  I learned about this wonderful stuff here.

That's the tape already pinned in place on the panel.  No measuring stinking holes!  Just pin, stitch, cut and place grommets!  It's really that simple.

This is what it looks like after stitching it down and cutting the hole.

This is what it looks like after I popped the front piece in.

Flip it over and it looks like this.

And from the back once the back piece is hammered on.  And yes I hammered, because I neglected to order the grommet setter.  They were very easy.

It took me right at an hour to get both panels grommeted (is that a word?!).  Maybe it should be! lol

I hope to have pics of the panels hung after this weekend.  Britt is taking them to Colby's.  We haven't decided what type of rod to use yet though, so that might delay us a bit.

Happy Friday!!

New Cutting/Pressing Cabinet!

It's finally here!!!  It is rather large and not quite finished.  But I am happy nonetheless.  The side showing has 4 drawers where I store patterns.

This is the other side and stores my fabric in the larger drawers with the narrow drawers up top the home for my rulers and cutting instruments.

This is one of the fabric drawers.  I still need a few more of the fabric organizers.

The top will eventually have a cutting and pressing board on top.  I just haven't quite figured out how to do it the way I want/need.

Now I have to get my desk refinished and a few other items in the room.  Then I can move on to decorating.  Yay me!!

Sorry I have disappeared, but I lost my sewing mojo.  I am slowly getting it back though.  I am starting on Christmas gifts, so I'll have quite a few posts coming up.  Stay tuned.

Have a great evening.
